Google Earnings Report in Q1 Paints a Picture of Mobile Opportunity

If 2012 is the Year of the Dragon, it must be a mobile-optimized dragon.

Studies have already more than hinted at 2012 being a big year in mobile—a projected 80% growth in mobile ad spending, search ads performing better on mobile than laptops or desktops, and an increasing CMO focus on mobile capabilities are all adding up to big things ahead in the mobile landscape.

Now, Google’s Q1 2012 earnings report is making even more mobile believers. A recent Trefis Team article on Forbes.com points to Google’s big jump in gross revenue—up 24% year-over-year—as well as significant bumps in operating and net income as signifiers of mobile search advertising driving Google’s earning growth for the future, putting traditional online search ads on the back burner.

With Google continually drawing more advertisers to mobile search ads with better targeting, the question is not whether or not you have some sort of mobile plan, but how confident are you in your overall mobile strategy? Smart mobile marketing agencies realize the mobile competition today is nothing compared to what it will be moving forward, and it’s crucial to stay ahead of the curve as the space heats up.

Will your mobile strategy keep you in front of the competition?
