Leapfrog Online was honored to help prepare, serve and eat dinner with the residents of Hilda’s Place in Evanston this week. As 20 “Froggers” cooked, served and dined on Monday and Wednesday night, we were filled with inspiration from both the residents and the amazing staff of Hilda’s Place.
Located in the basement of the Lake Street Church, Hilda’s Place is Evanston’s only transitional homeless shelter, and helps foster a relationship between the homeless and the community. Connections for the Homeless manages the shelter, and partners with over 50 other churches and synagogues and dozens of community-focused organizations and businesses to provide a full range of supportive services for the city’s homeless population. See a tour of the facility here.
Hilda’s Place houses 15-30 homeless and transitional guests each evening, and there are plenty of ways that you can volunteer your time or services to help in the good work the shelter does every day.
Leapfrog Online is grateful for the opportunity to volunteer our time and be a part of such a rewarding experience, and we look forward to future evenings helping out at Hilda’s Place. Thanks to the residents and the staff for a fun, rewarding and meaningful experience.
